In 2011, BMRS Asia launched its ‘V LEAD‘ enumerator training program. V LEAD provides capacity development assistance in situations where clients wish to utilize their own resources for data collection. V LEAD is an efficient and effective two-day training program. Based on best practice standards, V LEAD provides participants with the skills and confidence needed to become effective enumerators. The program emphasizes practical exercises and real-world applications, ensuring that participants not only understand the theoretical aspects of data collection but also gain hands-on experience. Upon completion of the training, attendees possess the necessary skills to independently perform data collection tasks, thereby enhancing the decision-making processes within their organizations. Quick Overview
Duration
Normally 3 days
Day 1
The first day focuses on interviewing techniques and data collection using computer tablets (CAPI). A step-by-step process teaches necessary skills, fostering confidence and proficiency. The training is hands-on, using practical exercises and role-playing to maximize the learning experience. Participants will engage in real-life scenarios to simulate actual interviews, allowing them to refine their techniques and receive constructive feedback. By the end of the day, trainees will feel equipped to approach data collection with a solid understanding of best practices and effective communication strategies.
Day 2
The second day delves into the practical application of sampling techniques. Depending on study requirements, participants learn how to draw sampling area maps with sampling routes, select households using the ‘random walk’ method, do random intercepts, or select respondents using quotas. These skills are crucial for ensuring that samples are representative and can yield reliable data. By the end of the day, participants will have hands-on experience in applying these techniques in real-world scenarios, enhancing their ability to conduct effective research.
Day 3
The third day will be the pilot test day, where the enumerator will interview the real respondents in the field or at the office using pre-recruitment methods. The pilot will enable the enumerator to be familiar with the questionnaire and the challenges they would face during the actual fieldwork. The third day will also allow the client to observe and give feedback before the real fieldwork begins. This will help reduce the mistakes and boost confidence among the enumerators, supervisors, quality controllers, and project managers.
